Happy Birthday Dad!!(yesterday) We love you!

It has been a good couple days here in Carlsbad. Jayci has been working hard at PW and one of her therapists even said she already felt stronger today. She was put on the Gait Trainer yesterday and today. For this she is placed in a harness and brought to the upright position. Her feet are then strapped in and once the machine is on, it puts her through the walking motion. It was so wonderful to see her in this position and oh, that smile. I have to tell you that I was quite impressed with myself because I held it together without any tears of joy. But, last night when I was putting Jayci to bed she said "Mom, you didn't even cry when I was in the Gait Trainer. Why didn't you cry?" Go figure. I guess I know now that there is no need me worrying about holding it together. Guess she expects it. We also think Jayci has grown since the accident. We wondered this before and then seeing her upright, Jayci sure thought her legs looked long. One of these days we will have to measure her.

Jayci has also been doing mat work, FES bike, standing frame, and biking with her arms, which she did 6 reps on her own. She did get a little dizzy on the standing frame, but today she lasted longer than yesterday. She also had an acupuncture treatment yesterday in trying to improve sensation, strengthen her muscles and it could quite possibly help with her bladder and bowel. She has another session scheduled for Friday. BELIEVE! BELIEVE! BELIEVE!

The weather has been hot and of course, the kids are trying to get the best tan they can. Jayci is looking a little red though so we pulled her from the sun today. We walked downtown here in the village this afternoon and it is quite a neat place. Lots of shops and shops and shops. They had a farmer's market today too where we bought some strawberries and fudge.

Emily(one of the therapists) told Jayci about a really good pizza place so of course, Jayci had to stop there for some pepperoni pizza. They also brew their own beer there so Shawn and I gave that a taste. It was all very good. While we were sitting there, Shawn said "That guy looks like Cousin Dick." And sure enough, he did, with his tanned skin and sky blue eyes. Then 'the guy' started be bopping to the music and Shawn says "Look, he acts like him too". Haha! When your pizza is ready they call out your name and it turns out Cousin Dick and 'the guy' have similar names as well. The guy's name was Peter.

We can sleep in a little tomorrow as Jayci has therapy at 2 until 5. Then she is off for the weekend and will start up again on Monday. We will find out her schedule for next week on Friday. Shawn's dad and mom are heading down this way tomorrow and figure they will be here on Saturday sometime. They will spend the week here and then drive Cass home at the end of next week. She has to be back for finals the following week. Not looking forward to her leaving but sure am glad I don't have to try and hold it together!!!

Well it is time for Jayci to have a shower(she opted out of the jet tub tonight) so I best be signing off. Good bye for now. God Bless!
