Hello??? Anybody still out there?? So my nephew, Skylar, informed me last night that I hadn't posted in almost a month and wondered what the heck I have been up to so here I am. Lots to tell, not sure where to start so I guess I will just start rambling.
I may be a grandma soon. Relax, take a few deep breaths, calm your selves. I am talking about my 2 fish, Suzie and Sybil, which it appears that Suzie may actually be a Sid.??? K, well now that I have your attention, I will start at the beginning. You must remember when we were in hospital and Jayci decided she wanted fish, and how she was the first person to ever have fish in PICU and how the mean lady came and we had to take them to Skylar's. Well, Auntie Sherry went out and got Jay another tank and then Jay went out and bought some fish. She named them Dexter(bigger gold fish), Todd(creepy, slimy, eel thingy), and 2 little gold fish that I don't remember their names right now but they have since passed on(we are doing OK). Jayci has them on a table in her room so she can watch them when she is laying in her bed. So Tye decides he wants some for his room and convinces mom(me) to let him buy a tank(with his money of course) and some fish, so away we go to Walmart, Tye, me and Tye's friend Lindsay. Of course Tye wants a BIG tank with lots of fish. That's when I saw Suzie(Sid?). She/he was just so darn cute that I decided I should buy her. We get to the till with our 2 bags of fish, the tank and all the go withs and wouldn't you know it, one of the bags springs a hole. We grabbed it quick enough that no fish escaped onto the floor, just a bunch of water. Anyways, it was quite the performance. They shut down two tills, one worker ran with Tye back to the fish department, another worker came along and went to get paper towel and such to clean up the mess, and the girl at our till shut down to wait for Tye to return with the newly bagged fish. GONG!!!! So now we have 2 tanks of fish, which by the way Tye, you still owe me. We have since been back to purchase a few more fish to replace the poor little ones that Jayci lost. Cass picked them out and they are 2 little speckled gold fish. Cass named hers Alfred(what) and Jayci named hers Wilburt or Willard, something weird like that. AND I got Sybil(they are called red parrot fish and are soooo cute.) I was watching them the other day. Have you ever just sat and watched fish? It is really quite relaxing. Anyways, Sybil and Suzie were in the corners of the tank and the 2 bigger gold fish(one is Jayci's Dexter that we moved to the bigger tank) kept swimming over and Suzie would chase them away. They would come back and again, Suzie would chase them away. I just assumed the gold fish were male and pestering my females but Andy was here last night and apparently he has a different theory. He says Suzie is actually Sid because the males are usually a lighter color and Andy thinks they may be having babies and that is why Suzie/Sid is chasing the other fish away. Well now Tye is all excited and thinks we need to get another tank and get Suzie and Sybil out of this tank so the other fish don't eat the eggs and we are leaving for California and who is going to watch out for these baby fish and on and on and on. Are you kidding me???? We should have got a puppy!!!!
School's out and report cards were good. Jayci got two credits, math(98%, amazing) and Psych(90%, not bad for missing the first half of the class). Tye passed all his classes with pretty good grades as well. Cass finished up the class she was taking but she says she doesn't have her mark yet????
We had a pretty busy Grad day and we didn't even have anyone graduating. Tye was an escort for our dear friend Ash and they looked awesome. Ash wore a beautiful yellow dress so Tye wore black with a yellow stripped tie. Oh, and he wore yellow high top converse runners, ordered especially for the occasion.??? In the kids' words 'SICK'(think that means super cool). Jayci went to her friend Alyssa's for a grad lunch, Tye had some pictures with Ash at 3, and then the 5 of us joined Ash and her family and friends at Houston Pizza for her grad supper. It was really nice and we were so glad they invited us. Cass did Jayci's hair, put a little makeup on her and picked out an outfit for her. She looked beautiful!!! We went to the Grand March that night and seen a lot of people we hadn't seen in a while. We knew quite a few grads this year with Jayci's friends, and hockey, basketball and such. It was awesome to see them all in their gowns and suits. I fought with my darn camera most of the time, so needless to say, I didn't get any good pictures of the March. The same thing happened last year at Cassi's grad. UGH! But I think I figured out the problem so I should be all set for next year. My friend Cindy was sitting behind us and I think she got a picture of just about everyone so I will get copies from her.
We have had a meeting with the school and Reg from Sask Abilities and they are just putting some programs on Jayci's new laptop and she will be set to go. She will be working on an English class over the summer and we have her classes set up for next year. She should be more independent with all the technology so she is quite excited about that. That is one of her goals with another one being able to graduate with her class of 2011 and there is no doubt in my mind that she will accomplish that and sooo much more. I can't say enough about the school division and staff as to all they have done for Jayci. Brian Braun, Tracey Martin, Ken Slade, Sonja Brooks, and everyone else have all been so good to Jayci. Shawn and I have said that while so much has been a fight the past 11 months, getting Jayci back into the school system has not been and we are so grateful for that.
I just wanted to share this story with you because I feel I need to. A few days ago I was having a hard time and I'm not exactly sure why. Sometimes it is just hard to see my daughter in that chair when I know that's not what God had planned. Anyways, I had to pull myself together so I could run to the store and pick up a few things we needed. I was praying I would make it in and out of there without breaking down(I do occasionally break down). I got what I needed and went up to the till. I did not know the lady working the till but I knew of her. I knew she lost a daughter quite a few years ago in a car accident. And I just had to think how much would she give to be able to hug her daughter again, or talk with her daughter again, laugh with her daughter??? I realized how lucky we are. I did not know this lady worked at this store so why, when I was having a bad day, did I pick this store, that till? Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Anyways, I came home and I had a really good day!
Well, I probably have rambled on enough and you all should probably get back to work before your boss catches you. I better get in the shower before sleeping beauty wakes up too. Hope you all have a wonderful day! I will post again in a month(hehe). Just jokes!!! God bless!
Love The Wittmiers (up to 21 of us now with our fish family)
P.S. How's that Skylar???

Hi Everyone,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had time to post Starla. It is great to hear what is happening. While a few of us might go through "withdrawal" waiting for the next post, I am so happy to hear that your lives are busy and productive and that is why you are not posting.
Jayci, great marks! From everything I have seen/heard over the last year, you will meet your goal of graduating with your class. Keep up the hard work!
Have a great week! Hopefully the weather stays warm and sunny!
Thanks for the post Starla - yes we are still all out here waiting for the updates just like I told you! It was really great to see Jayci and the girls together at Ashleys grad supper last week - oh and you too Tye : ) And you did look absolutely beautiful Jayci, just like your Mom said!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Tracey
I've also been checking for a new post from you for the last little bit...it looks like you had a very good reason for not getting to it any sooner - life is way too busy sometimes, ain't it?
ReplyDeleteIt's really nice to hear that the school is doing so much for you and that it's not a great big struggle to get what you need (not like some places).
I finally got my bracelet yesterday and I am proudly wearing it today! Nice color!!!
We all hope everything goes well for your trip to California. Try not to ring up too many text expenses :)
Keep posting when you can - you know we all hang on every word!
Shae
p.s. congrats on becoming a grandma :)
Starla & Jayci,
ReplyDeleteCorey Adam here. I just wanted to say that I have been following your blog since the accident and I think that you guys are doing awesome. Keep up the faith and don't stop fighting to get better. Jayci, I really missed you on the diamonds this year. Without you, I had nobody who I could call strikes on even though the ball was ten feet over your head. Though I must say that I didn't have anyone kick dirt on home plate right after I had brushed it off. :)
Anyway, love to you all and I hope to see you around this summer sometime.
Corey
