It's raining it's pouring....

Good morning and what a beautiful morning it is.??? Holy man, when is it going to stop? By the looks of the forecast, not for a few more days anyways. No sense in complaining really, as we can't do much about it. I better find our umbrella for Jayci tho, as she really doesn't enjoy getting wet.

We have a had a busy couple weeks. Not sure what exactly is getting done but it seems like we are always busy. Jayci is having fun selling her bracelets and it is going really good. To everyone that has offered to sell them or put them out in your place of business, we thank you and I will get them out to you as soon as I can. Jace really gets excited when someone says they would like to buy one and it's not just because of the money either. I mean, she is doing this to help her follow her dream of walking again (which she has always said she WILL do again) but it is such a huge, mmm... well not exactly sure what the right word or words are but just imagine how you would feel knowing that all these gracious people are wearing YOUR orange band on their wrist, showing their support as they stand with you on such a long, hard journey!!! It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Go Jayci!!!!

Shawn, Cass, Jace and I went to Victory Church on the weekend(Tye has been going to Trailview). They had a guest speaker and the service was all about healing. WOW! Everyone was so welcoming to us and you left feeling peace, hope and joy for what we do have. Not to mention that I got to see my Lil Bro play his geetar!!!(Pro!) We were fortunate to have met a lot of people during our long stay in hospital that talked to us about God and the power of prayer. Jayci had a couple wonderful nurses that would pray with us and they have really left a mark with Jayci that she will keep forever. We met family members of other patients as well that prayed with Jayci and talked about how God is a healing God. We have had support from so many churches here in Swift Current. We held prayer circles around Jayci's bed all the time and we have seen what God can do. All we have to do is look at where Jayci was on August 10, 2009 and where she is today. I don't know how someone can go through something like this without having God by your side. Honestly! God is good!!! Oh, and he's not done with Jaybird yet! Put the TWO of them together and watch out!!!

Shawn and I went to the Kentucky Headhunters on Friday with our friends Dianne and Jayson. They are old(the Headhunters I mean) but it was really good. It was the first time Shawn or I had been to the Sky Centre and we quite enjoyed it. Saturday we went to a grad barbecue for Jayci's good friend Jane. We stayed longer than we had planned but I guess it's because we had such a good time. We visited with people we hadn't seen in awhile which was really nice and Jayci enjoyed being out with her friends. Last night we had an anniversary supper at our house for my Ma and Pa(45 blissful years on the 12th!). It was a real shindig with Dad, Mom, Sherry, Dallas, Hayley, Lexie, Brad, Andrea, Eden, Jael, Bailey, Auntie Brenda, Uncle Lorne, Allan, Helena and of course my family, Shawn, Cass, Jace, Tye, Giz and ME! Dad splurged and bought mom a beautiful opal ring, which she liked so much that I guess she didn't want the family ring dad had given her years ago, as Andrea found it on the ground outside under the chair mom had been sitting in. Oops! Mom had taken the other ring off to put on the new one, and I guess she was just so darned excited she forgot about the old one and it fell to the ground. Oh brother Mother! Dad received an invitation from his 'Sweetie' to a 2 night stay at the spa. Splendid! It was not a bad night so we sat outside, good food, good drink and great company!!! Awesome party Starla! hehe!

Shawn and I will be celebrating 20 years tomorrow, woo hoo! We plan to go away(together) to the spa for a night.??? Well, that's the plan today anyways. Oh, it should work out. It may seem weird though as one of us has been with Jayci, well everyday since August 10th, but that's my point. Maybe it's time!?!?!? We checked with Cassi before we booked it and she was all for it. Her and Tye are very capable of helping Jayci with her needs, and they both take great care of her. Two of Jayci's Aunties have offered to stay here and the other two are only 5 minutes away. But Jace says she doesn't need a babysitter, which isn't what they were offering anyways, just simply to keep the kids company if needed, but the kids say they will be fine. And they will be. Let's face it, they are teenagers and what teenager doesn't want their parents to go away??? You know, parrtty!! But I am smarter than they and that is why I booked it in the middle of the week. Haha!! Just kidding, my children wouldn't do that anyways. Remember, 4 Aunties, 5 minutes away, that could pop in at anytime!!!

So, that is some of what is going on in our lives. Oh, but here's a funny for ya. Last week Shawn decided to clean out our eaves. He was on the roof doing so and I noticed I didn't really like the way he had the ladder, you know, not open but just leaning up against the house, but he is the ladder man, so I didn't say anything. Well, I was in our bedroom cleaning up when I heard one heck of a commotion outside the door. Ohhhh, I did not want to open that door, but I did, and there was the ladder laying on the deck, an upside down pail beside it, leaves and dirt and muck all over the place, and..... there is Shawn, sitting in my fountain. What the? He is holding his hands, he is full of muck, and I'm not sure if I need to get Jayci's lift to haul him up or what. But then he starts to giggling and giggling and giggling. Turns out he is OK, so then I start to giggling and giggling and giggling. He was a little sore for a few days after but he is doing fine. Oh, but I think I did hear him say he guesses he shouldn't have had the ladder that way. Do ya think??!!! Oh but I love him anyways!!

Anyways, I really got to get going. Have to shower yet before I get sleeping beauty up and ready. Take care all and God Bless!

Love The Wittmiers

  4. Hi Wittmier Family

I haven't taken the time to read the blog for quite some time now...Actually a spent some time reading it a couple of weeks ago (I believe it was the May 25 posting) but I only got half way through and then I had to get back to work. Man, you sure have the gift of gab Starla...

Anyways, I just spent the last little bit finishing up reading the blog and it seems a lot is going on (as usual)! I would very proudly wear one of Jayci's bracelets! I will get your address from my Dad and send you some money in the mail...unless of course you're coming through Winnipeg anytime soon (?)....ya, I didn't think so :)

Glad to hear things are getting back to normalcy for everyone. Sleepovers, fishing, parties...

Happy anniversary Shawn and Starla, and Uncle Cliff and Auntie Theresa.

I'm sure Jayci will have absolutely no trouble selling all those bracelets - if she puts her mind to it, that girl can do anything!

    take care all.
big hugs and lots of love

  5. Hi guys, Happy Anniversary Shaun & Starla!!!!! Have fun at the spa!!!

Sure had a good time Saturday night. Was really nice to see you all. Everything was cleaned up and put away by about 3 pm Sunday. Was just going to have a relaxing evening watching a movie when John went to the freezer to get something and everything was thawed out (still cold though). Poor Jane had done me a favour last week and vacumed the downstairs and unplugged the freezer (can happen to anyone), so there we were at 9 pm cleaning out a freezer. Still managed to get a movie after the clean up.

Love to read the blog Starla, you should be a writer, you have the gift!!!

Take care everyone!!! Come out to Clearwater this summer sometime for a few days if you like, you are welcome anytimes!!! (We can sleep 22 people you know!!!!)

  9. Its almost overwhelming how easy it is to sell these bracelets! This town deserves a big, huge pat on the back. As soon as we tell people what the bracelets are for, even people who don't know any of the Wittmeirs they take one or two, amazing

    Received the bracelets. Thank you.
How are sales going? Are you half way to Project Walk yet? Hope so.
Tonight(as like every nite)I'm sitting here wondering how everything is going with the Wittmier family. I checked the blog(like in every day lots of times)and discover that there hasn't been an update since June 8th.
Oh, Well, give it time. I guess Starla is busy busy in her flower garden and Shawn must be busy trying to balance ladders. LOL
An update would be nice. Even just a short one.(if that's possible)
    A little humor, Starla. SMILE)
    Love you all lots,
