It is cold and snowing a little here in Nephi, Utah where we spent last night at the Economy Lodge, and that's exactly what it is!!! Didn't sleep too great but who needs sleep anyways???
Yesterday was a full day of travel. We got on the road around 9:30 and checked in at Nephi about 8:30. It was quite windy and driving up through the mountains we had to stop a fair bit for gas. Not knowing where the next gas station is, we played it safe not wanting to run out. We did come up with a plan though. If we did run out of gas, we would send Jayci off with the jerry can, as she can go faster in her chair. Then Shawn realized he didn't bring a jerry can, so that plan was out the window. Somehow I don't think Jayci was disappointed though. We stopped in Idaho Falls for a late lunch and took some pie for the road. The traffic is ridiculous. We went from 2 lanes, to 3 lanes, 4 lanes, what? 5 lanes???? And everyone is in such a hurry. Not sure where everyone came from and where are they going?? We are about 5 hours from Las Vegas and we plan to stay there tonight. We hope to get there early this afternoon so we can tour around a bit.
We almost seen a bear yesterday. We were driving through the mountains and Jayci yells "bear". We are like "Where? Where?" and looking around. Then we hear a, giggle, giggle, "just joking" she says.!?!?! She thinks she is so cute!!!???
As for the Griswold comments, yes, we have a fair bit of adventure on our family vacations and NO, we did not tie my Giz to the bumper!! Quite a few years ago when Jayci was just a little girl, her and a couple friends went to Candle Lake with their friend Kendall, to stay at the Smith's cabin. Shawn, me and Cass and Tye were driving up about a week later with our trailer. We had Red(Shawn's truck) hooked up to our trailer, the box of the truck full of just about everything, and I come out of the house and Shawn has the canoe tied to the top of the truck??? Well, I couldn't believe it and said "We look like the damn Griswolds". So anyways, we get to Candle Lake and Randy was meeting us to take us to their cabin. We got there before him and when he pulled up, he drove up to our window and says "Well, if it isn't the Griswolds".
I better be signing off now as Tye is in a panic to get on the road and get to Vegas. Hope he realizes he isn't old enough to gamble!?!?! Take care and have a great day!

Their out there. Who? The hundreds of people who read the blog faithfully. People who were down south all winter, people with their own problems, people who only hear about Jayci from other people, friends, relatives, neighbors, schoolmates, teachers, medical people. Yes their out there.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure when Shawn,Starla,Cassi,Jayci & Tyler look north from down in Carlsbad they can see the "Northern Lights", its not the northern lights as we know them but the lights from all these readers sending their silent wishes & prayers all the way down to California.
Sounds like a great trip so far, lots of family memories and stories to tell for years to come. Safe travels, take care and know we're all thinking of you.
