It was another great weekend at home and was really nice to have that extra night too. Jayci went to cheer on her Ardens both Friday and Saturday and they won both games she watched. She enjoyed being there and seeing everyone but it was with mixed feelings. Of course she wished she could have been playing but what strength she has for wanting to be there. The rest of the weekend was spent with Cassi & Ty, and family and friends. We put up our Christmas tree too, so it feels a little more like Christmas time but boy, oh boy, I better get crackin as I have not bought one present yet. Yikes!!!!

The plan for this morning was to be on the road by 8:30 and we were all packed up and ready, but when Shawn started the van to warm it up, there was no heat. After letting it run for awhile, and still no heat, he phoned around to find a ramp to get the wheelchair into the back of his truck. The ramps he was able to find did not do the trick. As Jayci was scheduled to be in the pool at 1:00 and she was determined not to miss it, we decided to leave the wheelchair at home, put her in the truck, and were heading North shortly after 10:00. We made it back just in time, but now Jayci will have to use a manual chair this week and since she can't do that on her own yet, that means depending on someone else to push her around. It is frustrating to say the least. We just don't understand what SGI expects us to do. It seems like their rules suggest we wait until Jayci can drive herself and then get a vehicle. So in the meantime, what? She has to stay in hospital until that time??? Don't they realize that being able to go home, and to get back out into the world is also part of the therapy???

Anyhow, as frustrating as this morning was to us all, it was soon forgotten when Jayci got into the pool and we could just see the joy on her face. She absolutely loved it. She floated in the warm water doing arm exercises and it was very encouraging to see her right arm(which is the weaker arm) move like it did. Then her therapists helped her stand at the side of the pool to do more exercises. It was so good to see her standing there, holding her head high, smiling ear to ear. She can't wait to get back in.

Skylar was over tonight for a visit and we watched some TV and had a few laughs. He had to get back home to study as finals are fast approaching. Hopefully Jayci will get to bed a little earlier tonight as her therapy this week all starts at 10:00 rather then her usual 11:00. I'm sure the first couple mornings will be a little bit grumpy, but she will soon fall into the routine. This week looks to be a bit busier but that's just fine with us. We are here so we might as well get to it. Well I better sign off now. Take care and God Bless!

Love Shawn, Starla & Jace

So I guess Starla & Shawn will be getting their exercise as well as Jayci. That'll do you both good.
Keep up the good work, Jayci. Keep working on those arms and legs.
Wish we could stop in to see you but we're too far away. Guess you'll have to come here.
Glad you can all have weekends at home in Speedy Creek.
You had better get crackin on buying those Christmas gifts, Starla.( Don't bother getting us anything this year. )lol lol

  2. It was really nice to see all of you on the weekend. Jayci has made a lot of progress since we last saw her. Keep up the good work Jayci. I am glad she was able to attend the basketball games. I think she was an inspiration to the girls. Thanks Starla for keeping all of us so well informed. Have a great week.

  4. You must have felt so much freedom in that pool Jayci. It sounds like your mom and dad really enjoyed seeing the utter joy on your face!

That's really awful about the van. I can't believe SGI is making this so difficult for you when everything is already so difficult for you. You've persevered so far and I'm sure with all that determination you've got, you'll get them to come to your terms!

It must have been so great for your teammates to have seen you at the games on the weekend. I guess "inspiration" will have to be your new nickname :)

Thanks for keeping us all updated and informed...You know it's hard to get through a week without some kind of Jayci "inspiring" story.

    Take care all
    big hugs

  5. It must be so frustrating to not be able to get around with ease. We will pray that SGI gets you a van quickly. We pray everyday for all of you, for strength, rest and of course healing. God has done so much and will continue to do good works for all of you.
HMMM a nice warm pool would be so nice on a COLD day like today.
Have a great week and safe travels on Friday.
