Hello from California. Yep we are back at Project Walk. Shawn, Jayci, Tye and I left home on Friday and arrived here in Carlsbad on Monday. It was a pretty good trip up. No real catastrophes except the jerry can Shawn decided to bring, dumped over in the trailer and so you opened the doors and that's all you smelled. Our belongings seemed to be OK unless we were just used to the smell and didn't notice it??? No one said anything and we didn't notice any dirty looks so think we were alright. We made it to Idaho Falls our first night, Mesquite, Nevada the second night and spent our third night in Las Vegas. We weren't able to check into our house here in Carlsbad until Monday and we made it here in pretty good time. Traffic didn't seem as bad this trip except around Salt Lake City, and then I was shoved in the back seat and was told to lay down and shut my eyes. So I nicely told the driver to shut up and drive. I did manage to sleep only to wake up to the almost unbearable heat in the van and I was not a happy camper. Then I was told the air conditioner wasn't working. WT...?? All I could think was I was not going to make it through Nevada without any air conditioning.???? We stopped at this little town at a tire shop and they filled us up with freon, and that seemed to fix the problem. Yah, we had cool air. Then they proceeded to tell us the tires on our trailer did not look good and so, we got new tires. There always seems to be some unplanned expense but getting new tires seemed a whole lot better than blowing one out on the I15. And no, they did not see us coming!!! In fact, they didn't even charge us for the freon. Must have been our lucky day! Ha! So we were in Vegas on Sunday and that of course was the night of the Country Music Awards. So we made our way to the MGM to do some 'Star Searching'. As we were walking through towards the convention centre, we seen a lot of people that were going to the show, and Holy Man, were they dressed!!! And these weren't even the stars. We came across a man who said he had a couple tickets for sale, only $300, stage front. We decided to pass, as we figured we would then have to spend another $1000 on outfits just so we would fit in. WOW! We found this walk way that we could see the red carpet through the windows but they wouldn't let us hang around there, and since we were there kind of early, we only got a couple pics of a couple singers. One was Megan Lindsay and the other was Emily West??? Not sure I have heard of them but it was still pretty neat to see it all. Sorry I haven't blogged in, well quite a while. Things got a little busy for me as I returned to work the first part of February, right in time for the busy season. Love it! I went for the interview, well actually, I made my own interview, and BOOM, I was hired. The first week was a little stressful, as I wasn't too sure what to expect, both at work and at home, but actually it went pretty well. I got to know the new 'ladies and man' a little and quite enjoyed being back in the office. And as our stupid winter weather has been so crazy, Shawn was around home more and so that helped to make things run more smoothly there. And now they are in the busiest month and I am here in Cali, but I know they will all pull together and finish the job. Just remember Sherry, we ALWAYS get finished!!!! And our precious Cassi Lynn will be writing finals next week and so wasn't able to drive down with us. She is however, flying into San Diego on the 20th and we will be there to pick her up at noon. Can't wait. Also, our Craven Crew(Jayson, Dianne, Amy and Abby) plan on driving down to arrive around the 22nd, and Amy will fly in that night, as she too is writing finals. They plan to spend our last few days or so with us, and then we will travel back home together. That should make for some interesting stories. Guess we will have to call them our Craven Cali Crew now. Now, for the training update. Jayci had her second day of training today and she worked really hard. She was doing leg pushes on her own. She was doing back extensions while on her stomach, where she almost lifted her tummy off the mat. Her trainer said "That's kind of a big deal'. She was working her glutes, another big deal, and they raised her arms over her shoulders for some exercises, which has always been a very sore position for Jayci. Her trainers Kimmy and Kathi are very impressed with how much stronger she has gotten, and that is thanks to the hard work of not only Jayci, but Owen and Andy back home in Regina. It is all just so exciting and you really see the need for Jayci to keep doing this on a regular basis. It just makes your heart feel good, although it is hard sometimes to hold the emotions in check. Have to though, as you will catch hell from the Jaybird!! There seem to be quite a few more from Canada this time and we have met a few more of them, and then you see the familiar faces too. You share information and your stories and it really is like it's own separate community. It is such a positive place. The trainers are great and were all very happy to see Jayci back. Tye has been busy helping his sister and trying to keep her in line. Haha! He was quite funny last night as he figured Jayci got too much sun yesterday so before she went to bed, he made sure to put the aloe vera lotion on her. Jayci has the day off tomorrow and so Tye is supposed to be planning our day. Last I heard it went like this; eat breakfast, eat lunch, go shopping(ugh I'm not much for shopping), go out for supper, go to the movies. Not sure we will do all of that but we will get out and do something. Well, looks like our 'shows' are starting so I better sign off. I promise to update you soon. Take care of each other and as Ellen says "Be kind to one another". Love to all. Starla PS Happy Birthday Dad! Hope they didn't work you too hard today!!! Love you!
