Hello out there. Not sure what has kept me away so long but here I am. I should be in bed but can't seem to sleep these days. Not exactly sure why, just happens sometimes. Hopefully tonight will be better.

So, let's see. What has been going on here? Well, the kids are going to school and Shawn is working hard, and I have been managing the stuff around the house, getting Jayci to her appointments and travelling to Regina once a week anyways, for her training there. There is always lots to do but yet lots more to do. Oh Lordybee, will I ever catch up???

Jayci trains at least one day a week in Regina and has therapy here twice a week. She gets stronger every day and when I think about the progress she makes, I seriously get goose bumps. I am soooo excited for her because I just really feel in my heart she is going to do great things. Her sitting has improved so very much. Her muscles are staying strong in her legs and she continues to work on strengthening her right arm. Things go slowly but every little improvement is HUGE. She is such a great kid(well, mornings excluded) and she deserves so much, I know God will answer our prayers.

So, it was a year ago on the 5th that Jayci got her halo removed. Remember that day? We sure do and what a great day that was. Then, one year ago this past weekend was our first trip home since August 10th. And that was an awesome weekend! I remember feeling like we had been away forever but when we turned onto our street, it didn't feel like we had been gone for 3 months. We were so excited to be home and all our family and friends came to visit. It is something I will never forget. And then Sunday when we had to leave to go back, well, that was very hard to leave. I seem to remember a few tears that day. Oh well, look where we are now. Amazing!

Jayci and I were in Regina on Friday for training and then Cassi came home with us for the weekend. It was so great to have her home. I miss her so! We went to our friends' Jayson and Dianne's for supper on Friday as their daughter Amy was home for the weekend as well. It was a lot of fun(oh, and the food was OK too) and it was nice for us to get out as a family. Saturday me and my girls went uptown for a bit and then we spent a relaxing evening at home. Shawn drove Cassi back to Regina on Sunday. It went by way too fast. It's funny, I seem to remember Cassi saying that if she went to school in Regina, she would be home every weekend.??? At least we get to see her once a week when we go for training.

Tye has been busy working. He seems to like his job alright. Especially payday!! Oh, and he got his driver's license. Yikes! Just kidding. I think he is being a responsible driver. He has been driving the van to school which has helped out a great deal. Now when they come home for lunch, I have it ready for them and things aren't so rushed. He drives back after lunch and then on therapy days, I take the jeep to the school after school and switch vehicles with him so that I can take Jayci to her therapy. Our nights are pretty quiet. It is usually just the 4 of us hanging out and watching Jayci's shows. Tye usually works 4 days a week from 5 to 9 so then Jayci is stuck with Mom and Dad. I keep telling her how cool I am but so far she's not buying it. What's with kids these days????

Report cards came out not too long ago and they were pretty darn good. I even got one. Tye had to fill one out for me and MY parenting skills. I knew it was coming but I have to say, I wasn't sure what to expect. It is Tye after all. But when it arrived, I was pretty proud of myself. I got all A's and B's but as I'm looking down the sheet, I see two F's. WHAT??? What could I possibly get an F in and TWO of them???? Come on!! Well, one was for 'Understands poor grades'. Duh! I know what you are capable of Tye!!! The other F, well this is quite funny. It was for 'Talks openly about sex', and beside the F Tye had circled, he wrote in 'Thank you'. Hahahaha. That's my son!!!

So for Shawn's birthday I gave him a trip away for 2 nights with a guest of his choice and, would you believe, he asked me to be his guest. So, our plan is to take that little trip this week. Now, in order for us to go away, all our ducks have to be in a row, fo sho. And, this week should really work out as far as care for Jayci and such. We plan to leave Wednesday and come home Friday. This will be a first so we are going to Moose Jaw and Regina incase we have to make it home quickly. Think the kids are more excited than Shawn and I are(well, it is close). Hayley is coming to stay here to help Tye with Jayci and it's not like there aren't any relatives around if they are needed. They have already placed a supper order with Grandma Taffy for Wednesday and think they are having pizza on Thursday. The pantry is stocked also so there should be no lack of food. Oh, that reminds me, I need to tell them where the dish soap is! So, like I said, things really have to be planned in advance, and going Wednesday to Friday works out perfectly, and now, there is all this snow and rain and, what the heck???? I AM GOING DAMN IT! Well, if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. It won't be the end of the world, that's for sure. We will just have to reschedule if something comes up, like the STUPID, STUPID, weather. But I am looking forward to it. It is hard to leave but..... my marriage is important to me as well, and Shawn and I haven't gotten a lot of together time so I think it will be good for us to get away just the two of us and come back all refreshed. We will probably spend the 2 days talking about our kids anyways but at least they won't hear us. Haha!

So, that's what has been up with us. Not sure what I forgot, but whatever it is, I will mention it next time. I am going to try and get some sleep now. Shawn and I are going kitchen cabinet hunting tomorrow(woo hoo) so I need to be rested.

Take care all. God Bless!

Starla

  1. The kids should NOT be allowed to use the dish warsher(in case it breaks and nobody around to fix it)but should do all the dishes by hand.

Paper plates and plastic forks & knives & spoons should solve that problem. Just think of all the money saved by not having to buy dish soap.
Take out or order in will also solve the problem.
( not as big a saving, tho.)
    Thanks for the update.
Will be up there on Wednesday to see everyone.
We'll check up on the offspring for you, Starla. Rest easy. There'll be a new sheriff in town for three days. We'll teach them a few things. lol
Enjoy your alone time with hubby. Behave.
Looking forward to seeing you both, Jayci & Ty. Would have liked to been able to see Cassi too. Education comes first.
    Love you all lots,
    U. Jack

  7. H H Hello! Is anyone there? There must be something to report to all the concerned family and friends. Oh, and to me also.
As A. Jacki said waaaay back when, we sure enjoyed our visit in Nov.
Well, Jayci. I imagine that when you were much younger your mother likely told you to " get rid of that attitude or else ".
Well, young lady, I sure hope you keep your attitude now. Forget about what mom said. With your attitude you will go far. And keep that smile. That was the best thing we saw in Swift Current( sorry Brad).
Any how, Jayci, Keep on keepin on.
    We love you, girl.
