Well, wasn't that like THE longest trip home!!!??? Just kidding. We got home a long time ago. Like you didn't know that. Some blogger I turned out to be. Hopefully I can get back on track of letting you all know how things are going with us. That isn't a promise, by the way. But I will try!

So our trip home was pretty uneventful I would say. We left Vegas Saturday around noon and pulled into our drive way at 6:20pm on Sunday night. We were on the road approximately 11 hours Saturday and 12 hours on Sunday. We were anxious to get back. Tye and Gizzy were here to greet us. It was sooooo good to see them. So much has been happening since we got back, I'm not sure where to begin. I will just start rambling and hope I can remember everything.

I will start with the big birthday party. Jayci's friend Ashley and her parents put together a 'little' party for her at their house. It was a nice night, luckily, and everyone could be outside. Well, us adults eventually got kicked into the house as the kid's party was getting too big and they needed their space. Jayci was so happy to be able to go and she had a lot of fun. Shawn and I had fun too. Of course we didn't stay as late as Jayci (think it was 3am when I picked her up). Shawn was working the next day but we are glad we went. There was lots of food and cake and they went to a lot of work. Thanks Dale, Renee and Ashley!!!

First Steps Wellness Centre has opened in Regina. It is the first Project Walk provider facility in Canada. Woo Hoo!! We have been taking Jayci for training there since our return from California and we have gone 6 or 7 times now. This is a huge opportunity for Jayci to be able to train there until her next trip down to California. We hope to go twice a week, but that will depend on school as well. Jayci's training in Regina has been going really well so far. Owen is Jayci's trainer and I think they are going to get along quite fine.

Speaking of Regina, our little Cassi Lynn is on her own now, living in Res at the University of Regina. Sounds like she is having the time of her life, but I sure do miss her. She probably misses me just as much but she won't admit it. Anyways, it is great that we are taking Jay for training there as we will be able to catch up with Cass too.

Tye has got himself a job at the Real Canadian Wholesale Store. Not exactly sure what it is he does but sure hope he is doing something!!?? Think he likes it alright except he was quite upset with his first cheque. He only had 5 hours because he started the day of cut off and so his cheque ended up at only $15. Haha! With the union dues and some other 'initiation fee', that was what he ended up with. It was too funny. He got the job right before we were heading home from Cali and when we asked him what he was making, he said he didn't know. We said "Didn't you ask?'" and he said "Well that would be rude". LOL. Anyways, it seems to be going good and he has a little money in the bank.

Jayci and Tye are back in school, both full time. Woo hoo!! Everything seems to be A OK right now. Jayci is taking Math, History, English and Christian Ethics, plus she has a spare. She stays at school during her spare which gives her extra time to do any homework she may have. Apparently her History teacher doesn't believe in homework tho. What the....? Where were these teachers when I was in school???? She recently finished her English class she was doing over the summer. Just one more check mark on her list of things to accomplish. What a kid!!!! Tye is making up for drives he missed last year so that he can go for his driver's license. He will turn 16 tomorrow. What?? Where does the time go? He is practising lots with me and Shawn. Anytime he needs to go somewhere or be picked up, he has to jump in the driver's seat. There have been some pretty interesting moments, to say the least, but all in all, I think he is doing pretty good. It will be good when he does get his license because then he can drive Jayci to and from school. That should help out a bunch. As Jayci needs to come home at lunch for care, Hayley has been coming home with her, which helps out a whole lot. She is an extra pair of hands for me, and she keeps Jayci company too. Really, how many 17 year olds want to spend their grade 12 lunch hour with their mom????

Shawn is back at work and is quite busy, which is a good thing. He is home in the morning to help get Jayci ready for the day, and then he is off. I think he is glad to be back at it, although, I can tell he misses me like crazy!!!

As for me, I'm not sure where the time goes, but I can never seem to get all the things I think I should be getting done in a day, done. My boss has been hinting to me about coming back to work. I don't know, something about a BIG pay raise and less hours.??? Think he really misses me!!!(Have you seen the staff he has to put up with?). Of course I'm kidding! Think things seem to be going pretty good down there at the office since my leave of absence. That is actually hard for me to say. You see, you probably won't believe this but I am some what of a control freak. Well, maybe not a control freak. I just like things done the way I like them done and sometimes I tend to think that is the only way to do them. Although I AM usually right, I see that things at the office SEEM to be going fairly well without me. I probably could do some organizing tho. Haha! Not sure when I will attempt a return to work. Not sure if I even remember my job. But I am not going to worry about that today! No sense in worrying about everything today because what would we worry about tomorrow then??

So Sunday is the big Benefit for Jayci that so many wonderful people have been working hard at organizing. The interview with CTV went really well yesterday even though both Jayci and Andrea were scared poopless! They were both real relieved when it was over but I think they did a marvelous job. We are looking forward to Sunday's concert and to seeing so many of you.

Oh, I almost forgot about the rat story. Haha! Well you see, the very first night we arrived at our house in California, we could hear all this noise behind the fence in the backyard. It was so loud I was sure it was a cougar or a moose or something but.... the next night Tye came running in the house and said it was rats. What???? He said he seen them. Sure enough, he was right. It was rats and because of the noise they were making, we knew there was a lot of them. We seen them in the trees, yes, in the trees, and they also took 2 paths through the yard to the front of the house. One path was right along side of the house, and the other path was across the top of the fence at the side of the yard. Now, we spent quite a bit of time outside between the house and this fence, which was probably about, oh I don't know, 15 feet between the two. So you can imagine how creepy it was to be sitting there at the patio table and have a rat come running by. And these weren't little rats either! All the darn rat stories that went around in Swift Current and I didn't see one dead or alive and then we go to California and we were sharing the yard with them???? Seriously??? We even seen them fall out of the trees, into the yard, and then jump along the fence to try and get back over. Ty and Ashley spent one evening trying to kill a few as they ran into the yard. They had out a shovel, a rake, a garden hose? but didn't catch a one. It was ridiculous! Anyways, one night when Brad and Andrea were there, we decided to get out the camera and try and catch them on tape and to our surprise, we did! So I am posting the video of that night. Now, if you don't think it is as funny as we do (think we watched it like a hundred times) all I can say is guess you had to be there. Hope you enjoy!!!

Well I have to run now and get the kids from school but I will be back!!!

  1. Thanks for the update...I knew life must've been pretty busy for you without a post for so long.

Glad to hear everything is somewhat back to normal...with the kids in school and Shawn back at work. Looks like Jayci has got herself a pretty full schedule. And it's great that there is a Project Walk facility so close to you now.

Thanks for the rat story - but that was pretty creepy! I got the heebee jeebee's just reading your story - I don't know that I would've been able to sleep in that house!

Keep well and keep in touch
    big hugs
