Well I am sitting here, by myself, crying my eyes out. Not so much because I am sad, but because I am feeling very overwhelmed with all the support Jayci and our entire family has received since Jayci's injury last year, and the support we are still receiving.

The Benefit Concert on Sunday, WOW!!! What a huge success! What an awesome afternoon! What an experience we will never forget! There was great music, great people, and even a little comedy(Ken). Haha! It was just a really good 'feel good' kind of day. I went there with butterflies(the not so good kind, not exactly sure why???) and I left with butterflies (the really good kind, I know why!!!!) and I still have those butterflies today.

There are soooo many wonderful people to thank so here goes(hope I get the spellings all right!!??). To Dad, Tracy Chalk, Andrea Stevenson, Sherry Stevenson-Wall, Cousin Dick Dunlop, Darwin Knelson, Hayley Wall, Shelby LeBel, Jane & Jill Kennedy, Ashley Hovdestad, Danitra Letwiniuk, Joanne Booth, and Ken and Lorne the 'tech guys', thank you so very much for the many hours of your time spent in the planning, organizing and the work done on Sunday. The tremendous support of the sponsors is gratefully appreciated. To The Living Sky Casino and staff, SWTV News, who did an awesome job on the video of Jayci, CKSW, Magic 97.1, SW Booster, Signs'N Such, Stitch Master and Coffee News, we thank you! And to all the wonderful talent of the performers; Lana Empey and Susie Eidem, Penny Stenberg and Clayton Linthicum, Jacqueline Hudec, Karen Blackwell Jones and Ken (aka Mr. Funny) and Melanie Friesen, and of course Brad Johner (oh and his wife who he said he left at home with 5 boys and 3 football games), we thank you! And also a big thank you to Sean Finell for the great job on being the MC for the afternoon, we appreciate it very much. All of this work and time spent by all of these kind people, was done at no cost. We are truly grateful!

Of course we would also like to thank all the people that came out to spend a more than enjoyable afternoon with us in support of Jayci. It was so good to see you all and I think everyone would agree that it was a great time!! To all the ones that couldn't make it to the concert but yet still made a donation, we thank you! The support has been amazing!

I was told yesterday that the total raised was over $25 000, with more money still coming in. Amazing!!! What can we say to that??? Swift Current is a wonderful place to live with wonderful people. But Jayci's support has also gone further than that. She has received support from the surrounding community, all across Saskatchewan and into other provinces as well. Family, friends, family's friends and friends' family, have all been so supportive. I don't think I can fully express what this will mean to Jayci and her recovery.

Jayci has suffered a devastating injury but by no means is she giving up. Yesterday at training, Jayci was sitting a little bit taller and I know why. It's because she has the support behind her of so many very special people that care so deeply for her and her recovery. She is truly blessed!!!

I would like to thank our family for being beside us this entire way and for all you do every day to help us. We truly could not do it without you! To everyone for all that you all have done to help Jayci and our entire family, well, what can I really say but that we are FOREVER GRATEFUL! Keep believing! Keep the faith!!

Holy crap! Is that the time? I gotta go, it's almost lunch! Talk to you soon!

Love Starla

PS Love you Dad!!!

  3. OK, now I'm sitting here crying too! You certainly do have the support of many and I also find it completely amazing.
It's overwhelming if you stop and think about it, but Jayci's Journey has reached a lot of people and we are all behind her 100%!
Keep up with all your hard work Jayci. And Starla, keep up with all your hard work too (it's hard work being emotional all the time isn't it?) :)
Glad to hear the benefit concert was such a big success.
Big hugs and lots of love

Did I tell you how much we enjoy reading all the updates? If not, we do.
How is school going, Jayci? I hope your keeping up with family tradition and giving the teachers a really hard time. Hope everything is going real good at school. A good education is a great thing to have.(just ask me)
Are you enjoying Project Walk in Regina? Must be nice having a place like that so close to home.
Glad to hear that the concert went very well. You have sooooo many relatives & friends & people that you've never even met on your side. It must give you a warm and tingly feeling. All of our friends here keep asking us how you are doing. We give them your blog and let them see for themselves. They are very impressed.
Keep up the good work, Jayci.
    We love you very much.
Say Hi! to your family for us.
    Love ya lots,
    U. Jack
