HAPPY BIRTHDAY OUR BEAUTIFUL JAYCI SHAWN!!!

I told you the story of how and when we found out I was pregnant with our second child.

Now, the rest of the story....

So this pregnancy was totally different then when I was pregnant with Cassi. Oh, I was sick again, but only this time, twice as sick. There were quite a few days in the first 16 weeks where I couldn't be out of bed for very long. Thank god we have the supportive family we do, and we relied on them quite often to take care of our little Cassi Lynn. After the sickness tho, I felt probably the best I have felt in my life, physically, mentally and emotionally. I even carried this baby totally different(I didn't feel like a water balloon). But, oh the heartburn. And you know what they say. Heartburn means lots of hair(whoever THEY are). Anyways, this pregnancy was so different, that I was pretty certain we were going to have a boy. I think everyone was convinced we were having a boy. Even our doctor thought so. That is, everyone except, Mother Teresa. Pretty much from the start, my mom would say "I don't know. I have a feeling that you are going to have another girl". Anyone that knows my mom, knows she gets these 'feelings' and quite often, like it or not, she is right.

So, it's my birthday, August 9th, 1993 and I go to visit my doctor. I am very uncomfortable at this point. He examines me and decides there is a lot of pressure and tells me to meet him at the hospital at noon(my due date was actually the 16th). So I go home and Shawn and I pack some things for Cassi, drop her off at my mom's and head to the hospital. How cool is this. I am going to have our baby boy on my birthday!!! Things don't go exactly as planned.

After spending my entire birthday in the hospital, I am finally rushed into the delivery room just before 12:30am on August 10th. Yep, passed my birthday. This little fart needs to have his own birthday! And now he is in such a hurry to see the world, that he can't even wait for the doctor(doc arrived about 5 minutes too late). So at 12:35am, here he is, only I hear the nurses say "It's a girl". WHAT??? Are you kidding me??? A girl??? Holy cow, Grandma's feeling pulls through again. But what an amazing moment, to say the least. We had another beautiful baby daughter, who weighed 6lbs 3 oz. Oh, and she had a head FULL of dark hair(guess THEY were right about the heartburn).

I was absolutely surprised. Delighted, but surprised. I was so certain we were having a boy. So certain in fact, that we didn't really have a girl's name picked out. Oh, there were a lot of names that we liked but this was going to be our Tyler James. There was one name that had been stuck in my head ever since Cassi was just a baby and I always thought, if I had another daughter, I would choose that name. I ran it passed Shawn, and we agreed. I know! Amazing, isn't it!! Haha! Anyways, Jayci Shawn Wittmier was the name. Although at one point I overheard Shawn tell someone her name was Jayci Lee Shawn so I asked him where the 'Lee' came from. Well, he wasn't quite sure. Still in shock I guess. Jayci Shawn she was!!! And she was beautiful. We couldn't wait to take her home and begin our lives as a family of four. It has been an absolute joy ever since, having Amazing Jace in our lives.

This is how I am choosing to remember August 10th. One of THE BEST days of my life!!!
