And then there were 3.....

I didn't want to get out of bed yesterday morning but after checking my phone and seeing a text from good old dad saying 'good morning', up I got. Guess he knew I needed that!! Cass and Tye left on Friday with Grandpa and Grandma, and it is pretty quiet around here. I don't like it!! I guess it is better than the three of us sitting in a hospital room but even there, there were familiar faces. I so enjoyed our trip here and the time we had here as a family. I know Cass and Tye will be well taken care of back home by people that love and care about them but I am selfish. I want them here with me!! Think Grandpa and Grandma enjoyed their time here as well. So many laughs and sorry, but some of them were at the expense of Grandpa and Grandma. So glad they were able to come!!

Yesterday we hung out at the house, picked up a few groceries then back to the house. Shawn took off to Oceanside for a bit and Jace and I sat on the front deck watching the ocean and the people. There are a lot of joggers here and I remember our first day out on the front deck. A jogger went running by and Jayci yells out "Run Forest, run". Haha! We made homemade pizza for supper, ate and waited for Shawn to return. Where was he you ask. Well, long before Jayci's injury, Jayci wanted to get a tattoo on her wrist with the word 'Believe'. She hasn't forgotten about that and still wants one. I guess you could say her 'motto' has always, and even more so now, been 'Believe'. Cassi and Skylar came up with the idea that Cass, Tye and all the cousins(the big ones anyways), should get a tattoo 'Believe' showing their support for Jayci and her recovery. When we left home, Shelby was the only one that had actually done it so far but while here, Cass and Shawn found a tattoo shop, and last Wednesday night, Shawn and Grandpa took Cass down and she got her 'Believe' on the top of her foot. Looks really good, but Cass wasn't impressed when I said I thought I would get the same on my foot too. Yesterday, Shawn went to get a tattoo of a rainbow. After he left, Jayci said "Mom, what are we going to do? I can't picture Dad with a rainbow tattoo, I think it's kind of girly. What if we break out laughing?" Well, it actually turned out pretty nice and above the rainbow is the word 'Believe'. Jayci can't get one here as their laws are 18 and over. She thinks we should stop in Nevada on the way home. Tye wants one too but as for me, guess you will have to wait and see.

Today we walked to the village square and had ice cream for lunch. Ya, I know, not the best lunch to have, but it was good!!! Jayci practiced her sitting when we got back, now we are all just chillin. Hot dogs for supper, homework to work on, probably more deck sitting and then off to bed I suppose. This week Jayci has training Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

And for the really good news......Uncle Dallas, Hayley and Lexie are flying in on Friday. WOO HOO!!! Familiar faces!!! We will pick them up in San Diego Friday around noonish. Dallas and Lex will fly back the following Wednesday and Hayley will stay and keep Jayci company on our trip back home. I am sooooo excited. Jayci wants to go to Sea World so think we will do that on Sunday.

We have been searching around for a place to rent this summer. I have e-mailed a few places but nothing yet. The frustration builds, but then one lady replied saying their property was not available but that she was glad to hear our daughter was attending Project Walk and that we would be in her prayers. Frustration subsides. It will work out!!!

Well, better run along now and get Jace crackin on her homework. Have a wonderful day! God Bless!

Love Shawn, Star & Jace

  1. Hello Wittmier's
Well it's after supper here "My Time" the kitchen gets strangly quiet when there are dishes to do , don't tell my kids but I kinda like that no one will ask me any question until they are sure dishes are finished. So instead of doing them I sat down to catch up on you all!! I have my coffee yes Timmy Ho's which for the past while I have started dumping into my Believe cup that Megan bought me! I use it every day for you Miss Jayci!!!! as I have said before I BELIEVE !!!!!
Jayci I have watched the video of you sitting about a hundred times . I will never forget that image of you, because Jayci that is the closet picture I have ever seen of Pure Joy!!!!! Whoo Hooo!!!
Starla your quote Matthew 18:19-20; "I also tell you this: If two of you agree down here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together because they are mine, I am there among them."
It always amazes me the Bible always seems to have the best answer when a person truly needs one !!!! I love this one !
Shawn will be asking to see that tattoo, hmm Starla never said where you got it Oh well I will take my chances and ask any way hehehehe

  6. Hey Starla,
I still think you should right a book! You are an amazing writer. Of course the characters in your story....remarkable! Way to go Jayci, keep of the good work! Have you been telling stories to your new american friends about the igloo you live in back in the great white north? Some how I can see that little impish grin as the story unfolds.
I just wanted to share this with you guys. I get these daily evotionals that help me through the tough stuff, although my tough stuff does not compare with the mountains you have already climbed and continue to climb. Enjoy your daily accomplishments. We are all praying for you guys and will stay on the path with you. Miss you all and take care.

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Sometimes it's easy to become so goal-oriented and so focused on our dreams that we overlook the simple things that we should be enjoying in our everyday life. But we have to remember that life is not really about the destination, it's about how we live all along the way. It's about the path we're on that shines brighter and brighter.

In this life, there is no such thing as a finish line. Once you accomplish one dream, God will give you another. When you overcome one challenge, there will be another. There is always another mountain to climb. If we make the mistake of just living for the destination, we'll look up one day and realize we've missed out on the biggest part of life because most of life is routine. Most of us get up every morning, go to work, come home, eat dinner, go to bed and do it again. There are very few mountaintops where you graduate from school, or you get married, or have a child, or go on vacation. The high times are few and far between. Don't get stuck living for the mountaintops. Learn to enjoy the path you're on. Learn to enjoy the people in your life. Learn to enjoy the simple blessings of walking in the path the Lord has prepared for you.

    A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, thank You for the gift of life. Thank You for the good plan You have for me today and for my future. Teach me to enjoy the journey of life, to embrace each day with joy and enthusiasm. Help me to see the blessings of every moment You have given me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
