I'm back!!! Sorry, but my time on the computer has been spent trying to find us a place down in Cali. We leave on Thursday and we don't have a place yet. A friend gave me a couple web sites to look up and there are lots and lots of places to rent in Carlsbad. Not sure how many exactly I have contacted but it has been a lot. They are either all ready rented, out of our price range, not wheel chair accessible or they don't have the right parking for our van and utility trailer. Lots have under ground parking and we just won't fit our van into one of those. It has been frustrating to say the least, but think we may have finally found a house. It seems really cute, is in our price range and it has a long driveway. It does have steps leading into the house but Shawn received the portable ramp SGI was so kind in approving for us, so it will hopefully work out. I am just waiting to hear back from the owners with the details but it isn't available until the 7th of April so that means a few nights in a hotel. We can live with that.

Jayci has been busy with school and has been going for therapy 3 days a week. We still have not received her FES bike for the house???? It's too bad as she could really use it. Patience, patience, patience!! Jayci had an appointment a couple weeks ago in Saskatoon with Dr. Lothian, the Pediatric Respiratory Doctor, and he was also her doctor in PICU. Elizabeth was there too, who also worked with Jayci after she had the trach put in. They were both very pleased to see Jayci, as last time they seen her, she was in the halo, still had the trach and didn't have a lot of movement in her left arm. They were both so excited!! Dr. Lothian says he does not need to see Jayci again as she is doing really well and she will just continue to get stronger. He also gave the go ahead for the intense therapy she will receive at Project Walk, saying that it will be as good for her as it would for anyone. Woo hoo!! We also picked up her own wheelchair. It is teal and Rob(Medichair) reved it up for her. She didn't like it too much at first, as it is different than the loner chair, being that it is more narrow and actually fits her body. She just has to get used to it and I think she is liking it better now. She does seem to have trouble driving it sometimes though, so we all have to be on the look out so she doesn't hit us.

I can't believe we are leaving on Thursday. Seems like we just got home. But this will be good. Jayci is going to start at 3 hours a day at Project Walk and then they will see from there. Weekends off though so we will be able to lay out in the sunshine, or under a palm tree is where I will be. Maybe I will actually finish the book I started last summer. Haha. So we will be busy getting things organized to go and we will be sure to throw in a tent, you know, just in case!! I plan to borrow some one's video camera so we can record the wonderful progress we know Jayci will be making. I WILL post on the blog so that you will all know what is happening and so that you can continue to pray for our Jaybird.

Well, I better sign off now and check to see if I received any e-mails, hopefully saying someone has a place for us. Wish us luck, we love you all and I will post again soon! God Bless!!!

Love Shawn, Star, Cassi, Jayci, Tye and Giz

Have patience. Take it slow and remember--any improvement is huge.
It's too bad Hayley couldn't go. She is such a big help with Jayci. You have a great cousin there, Jayci. She's a keeper.
I think everyone will agree when I say " great work, Hayley. Proud of you and all you do."
O.K. Wittmiers. Safe trip down and back.
