Good morning all. We have had a pretty busy week here. Monday morning Jace and I had a meeting at the school. They say they are just so happy to have Jayci back and they will do all they can to make her return comfortable for her. She is going to start by going in the afternoons and she will continue with her math course that she was taking in Saskatoon and she will do this in Mrs. Martin's room, which Jace was quite happy about as she knows her and therefore makes Jace feel more comfortable. She got about half way through the course while in Saskatoon and they were impressed with that. She will also be taking Psychology, which gets her back in the class room with some of her friends. As to how school continues will all depend on Jayci. If she wants more, they will set that up. If she needs less, they will do that too. The school division and staff have been totally supportive and accommodating so far and hopefully that will help Jayci's return go more smoothly for her. She is quite nervous about returning, maybe she's just not sure how she will be treated, but I am sure once she gets back into the routine, she will find that everyone will be glad to have her back.
Monday afternoon we went to visit our family doctor. He walked in and said "FINALLY, I get to see you! I have been reading report after report about you." He gave her a hug too. We will go back and see him before we take off to California so he can make sure we have everything we need for the trip.
Tuesday morning Jayci had therapy. It is going well. Kerrie is getting to know Jayci and all that she can do. Jayci will continue to work with Kerrie and also Kate and will be going Mon, Wed and Fri mornings to see them. Tuesday afternoon Jayci took a trip to the dentist. Along with everything else, she also had some teeth damaged in the accident. She had a back molar that was cracked in half and some teeth that were chipped. They pulled the molar as the damage was so bad and filled the other teeth. When her wisdom tooth comes through, it should help to fill the hole left. Because Jayci was nervous about the visit, she was given 'laughing gas'. She has never had that before and she asked me if she would still be able to feel anything. When I told her that Grandma Taffy uses it when she goes to the dentist, Jayci said "Oh, well I will be fine then!" Haha. Her teeth have also shifted from the accident so we may go visit the orthodontist as well. Tuesday night Denise came over for another massage. She has been coming to the house to work on Jayci's neck and shoulders. Jayci has been waiting a long, long time for this. Her neck is getting loser and so her movement to the right has definitely improved. Denise will continue to come to the house as long as she feels Jayci needs it. How nice is that!?!?!
Wednesday, Jayci started school. I went in with her and she ran into (well, not with her chair or anything) but at the front door were some of her friends. They were just too excited and had to take the elevator with Jace so Tracey and I took the stairs and met them. We went to Tracey's room and met with a few people that are going to be working with Jayci and helping her with anything she needs at school. Again, everyone is really wanting to do what they can to help Jayci. It really was very exciting to me. Not sure why, maybe just because for a time, it didn't feel like this day would ever come. Even though Jayci seems to be quite anxious about it, I think it will be great for her. She is back with her peers, learning and participating and in time, she will feel comfortable again. Tye has been meeting Jayci after school and I pick them both up. He makes sure she is all buckled in and then we head home together. Yesterday was therapy in the morning and school in the afternoon.
So you see, we have been busy. Shawn is busy working out in Fox Valley and he doesn't get home until after dark. I am not getting much done around the house yet, but..... Things are busy and some moments are a little overwhelming but my three wonderfully, adorable children remind me to lighten up by saying things like 'Relax Mom', or 'Don't get frustrated Mom' or my personal favorite 'Who tied YOUR tighty whities in a knot?'. Aren't they cute!?!?! But honestly, I am very happy to be home and to be busy again(after almost 7 months sitting in a hospital). And while I do miss being at work(it is tax time you know, and I LOVE the busyness of tax time) it feels good to be at home with my kids. I think back to the first few weeks or so of this journey when things seemed so, so, devastating, and my wonderfully, smart brother said to me "The worst is over. Everyday from here will be a better day!". He was so very right!!
Hope you all have a great weekend, we love you and God Bless!!!

Of course everyone will be glad that Jayci is back in class. Just don't run over anyone. lol lol
ReplyDeleteSounds to me that everyone is extremely busy in your household.
Starla -- listen to your kids. They seem to be giving you some good advice about " cool it ", things are OK. After all, they must be pretty smart kids -- (they take after their mom, don't they ). Also, Starla, don't worry about tax time. I'm sure the boss will step up to the plate & put in some extra time to take up the slack. Right Cliff? It's about time he started pulling his own weight.
Brad also gave you some good words of wisdom. (he takes after his U. Jack in that respect)
Sounds like Tye is going to look after his sister real good. Good for you, Tye. Proud of you.
Glad to hear Shawn is back working again. I'll bet he's glad too.
Starla, now that your all home together, try and relax a bit. Don't worry too much if you don't get the blog updated as often as you used to. You need some time off too. You have to get re-energized both physically and mentally. You deserve a rest and you should get it. After all, you have to get ready for California.
Jayci - we are proud of you for what you've accomplished so far. Keep it up. We're all on you side.
Hi! to Shawn, Starla, Cassi, Jayci, and Tye.

ReplyDeleteJayci, remember - "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and HEALING ALL that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." (Acts 10:38)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
Keep fighting Jayci!

Your brother sounds like a really great guy. I bet his wife is the luckiest girl in the world.

ReplyDeleteHowz it goin, Jayci? Getting everyone trained so they do things properly? Hope so.
ReplyDeleteI see you've got Grampa trained with the taxes. ha ha ha
When do you head for California? Our thoughts and prayers are with you when you go.
Cassi and Tye, keep up the good work on helping with Jayci. Also on the help you give your mom. Just don't forget -- even tho he might not say it, but your dad could use some help too. Even if all you do is talk. It helps a lot to get everything out. He worrys a lot about all of you. So give him the opportunity to do so.
Ya, an update would be nice. But only if your up to it.( even if your not ) We'd all like to have another update. Right, gang?
Lets hear it for Starla.
Starla. Starla. Starla. Starla. You go girl.
Love you all.
