Alright already, Imma postin. But Skylar, shouldn't you be studying or something???
Ok, where to start??? Well we left City Hospital on Thursday afternoon. Hard to say good bye but happy to be going home. We will be back up there this month so it was kind of a "see ya later", except for Sarah, as her last day was Friday and then she is heading back to school. Her and Jace hugged and exchanged e-mails, phone numbers, etc. so that was a little sad but she is such a great girl and we wish her all the best!!! Who knows, maybe our paths will meet again! Karin and Sarah gave Jayci a plant to take care of. Karin said it is a pepperoni plant. It's funny how many people actually believe that, of course then they think about it and go "NO! YOUR LYING?!?!". Haha. Anyways, we have named him Pepper and he is still thriving. This was kind of neat..... As we turned off the highway last Thursday onto Battleford Trail, 5 minutes from being home, the song "The Climb" came on the radio. How fitting was that???? Of course it was being sung by Mylie and not Chantelle and Julia Dawn but still. WOW! Oh, and by the way girls, lots of people tell me how they have watched your video and they are in awe. Some say they even get goose bumps. Just wanted you to know.
So, today we have been home a week and what a week it has been. Lots of 'welcome homes' from our wonderful family and friends with phone calls, visits, food (oh the food) flowers, balloons. We even had a visit from my elementary school principal and his wife. They had never met Shawn or Jayci but they read the blog and just needed to meet the amazing Jace. This journey has really taught us that there are wonderful, kind, and caring people in this world. I have heard over and over "Let us know if there is anything we can do to help" or "I wish there was more we could do". You all must know that your prayers and support help us so much and mean more to us then I could ever explain. Knowing that there are sooooo many people that really, truly care about our family inspires us and helps to keep us strong. I only hope that we will take from this and give back where and when we can. You all have been simply amazing!!!!
Jayci is set up for therapy here in Swift and she will go 3 days a week for PT. I have been in contact with the school division and they are excited to get Jayci back and want to make sure she has everything she will need. She will probably start out at half days, if that can be arranged and then we also have to set up times with the OT. So you see, she will be a busy little bird, but that's how she was before so... She is excited to be back at home where her friends can 'POP' over anytime, and they do. Haha. And the new phone keeps her in touch with them when they aren't here.
Shawn has been busy cleaning out the garage and his work trailer and he plans to head out to Fox Valley tomorrow to start on a job for the school division. I have been trying to organize some stuff in the house and, well, I think we just have too much darn stuff!!!! As for house renos, they are all just temporary at the moment. We are waiting for plans from the architect, then we need to get prices, then we have to decide if we are going to stay here or look for a different house that would be easier for Jayci to access. Right now, she only has access to the upstairs of our house. At one time, it was mentioned to us that Jace just live on the main floor and renovate the bathroom and we would be set. Ridiculous! A person should have access to their entire house. I try not to dwell on it too much because I'm afraid I may lose my mind. It is going to take time and I know things will eventually work out for all of us so....
Anyways, that about wraps up our week, I think other then to say it feels real, real good to be home with all our kids under one roof. Have a great day and God Bless!!
Love Shawn, Star, Cassi, Jayci, Tye & Gizzy

From Victory Family Church - so awesome to know you are home - still praying for all of you and believing, believing, believing for Jayci to walk again. She has made such incredible progress and with God all things are possible. Keep believing, keep working hard at therapy Jayci and God will do the rest....

I meant to post immediately after the new update but we were'nt home so does this comment qualify for " First Post "?
ReplyDeleteGlad everyone is all back together again in your own house in Speedy Creek. I'm pleased to hear that therapy has been arranged in Swift Current.
Jayci - take it easy on the therapists. Break them in slowly. They'll need time to adjust so that you can teach them how to do things properly.
Starla - Don't worry about the house. It'll all take time. First, you get the plans. Then you talk about them and decide what the best options are. Then act on the decisions as they are made. ONE STEP AT A TIME.
We agree with Skylar - It WAS time for a new update. Thanks, Skylar.
Well, Wittmiers, enjoy being together again.
Jayci, you keep on keepin on.
Love you all lots.

ReplyDeleteYour strong will and work ethic will continue as you start a new page with school and PT. Your friends are so anxious for you to get back to school.
On American Idol last night one of the girls sang Climb and personally I thought that Chantelle & Julia Dawn sang it much better!
