We are back. Finally have internet, for now, and thought I should probably let you all know how our week has been going. So, let's see. What has been going on? Well, therapy and more therapy, a little bit of math, and that's about it. Not sure why, but this seems like an extremely long week for me.

On Monday after pool when they wheeled Jayci out, she got dizzy and thought she was going to pass out. We got her legs up and the chair tipped back until she felt better, and then we rushed her back up to her room. Shawn had to push that big heavy chair as it was tilted back and she can't drive in that position. That's probably a good thing though as we have seen Greg drive in that position and one time he almost took out a little old lady in a chair. He said he seen her all along??? Anyways, the nurses took her blood pressure when we got back to our room and it was in her "normal range". They have upped her blood pressure medication as of today because it is still affecting her therapy on the tilt table as well. As soon as she goes past the 60%, her pressure drops so hopefully this will help.

Today was a pretty exciting day. Jayci got her van. Woo hoo!!! It's pretty nice but more importantly I guess, is it will make things a lot easier for us all. On the weekend at home, we had a loaner from Golden Mobility and Cass, Jace and Hayley ventured out on their own a couple times. They went to a hockey game by themselves on Friday and since that went so well, on Sunday the three of them took off to the mall. It was pretty comical watching them when they returned home, as apparently Cass doesn't have much experience backing into the drive way with a mini van and she can't see where she is going. Hayley jumped out and directed (if that is what those little hand gestures were) and after a few attempts, they got it. I guess Jace was inside bustin a gut. Jayci's van is full size so just a bit bigger but I am sure Cass will master it!! Maybe this weekend Tye will take a turn, that is if we can pull him away from his video games. Maybe I can bribe him with my good cooking???? Jayci hasn't seen her van yet. We are supposed to be heading to the mall for a little outing and to have supper but she really needed to have a nap first. Is 3 hours still considered a nap????

We will be home tomorrow by supper time. As soon as Jayci is done swimming, we will head out so we can make it back for the Irwin Middle School(where our kids attended) talent show. They put on this show every year to raise money and this year they so graciously decided to give the money raised to Jayci to help in her recovery. Tracy Chalk learned we were planning on going to Project Walk in California and so this money will go towards that. The show is usually really good with talent from young and old, and don't forget the cake auction. Jayci thought she would like to attend and by the sounds of it, she will have a lot of support from her family. I think just about every family member from Swift will be there. I will for sure let you know how it goes.

We will actually be home until Tuesday morning with Monday being a holiday. That's like 5 nights at home!!! Maybe that's why this week seems so long to me. Not sure what is planned, we usually don't have to plan too much as our friends and family keep us entertained with their visits. Don't know what we would do without the great support from everyone?!?!?!

Guess Sleeping Beauty is awake so better go see if she still wants to go to the mall. She is probably starving after that nap. I will say good bye for now but will post again soon. God Bless!

Love Shawn, Star & Jace

  6. Bonjour, mes amis :)
I've been on hiatus for a few weeks...started taking French class and it's kinda consuming a lot of my time. I must say, though, that I'm not making nearly as much progress as Jayci! Although I've learned how to say "It's mine!" (C'est a moi!) and "I need coffee!" (J'ai besoin du cafe!) I hope that helps you at least a little bit :)

I've really missed you guys. Once again I am truly amazed with you Jayci and all of your progress, determination and spirit. I am so glad to hear that you got your van...I knew it would happen - all in good time. It's hard being patient as you could surely attest to, but you're doing good!

It took me, off and on, all day yesterday to catch up on all the blogs...so much going on! From a new wheelchair to Shawn's new dance moves! Awesome!!!

So, what's the prize for being the first to post? I love a good race :)

Anyways, must run...I really should get back to work ;) Have a really great weekend with all your friends and family. Enjoy the talent show! Can't wait to hear/read all about it.
