Hello all. We are still here doing our therapy and it has been going really well. Yesterday Jayci pedalled 4 miles with her legs on the FES bike and her muscles did the work. It was great to see those legs moving again. Today she was back in the pool (her favorite). Things just move better in the water and it gives her freedom to float around using her arms. Oh, and that smile!!!!
Jayci has been feeling good and therefore eating lots. We fed her pizza last night because she worked so hard on the bike. Today nurse Ruth brought her some home made soup, which Jayci really enjoyed (I snuck in a taste, but got in trouble). After swimming she ate a whole bag of popcorn and tonight she is having chicken fingers, which Shawn is out picking up right now. One of these days that weight just has to go up (her's, not mine please)!!!
Tomorrow she has OT and then back on the bike and then we will be heading home for the weekend. I think chicken and dumplings are on the menu this weekend, well that or chicken pot pie, Jace and Ty can fight it out. I'm not sure what else is on order but I am sure I will be told. I don't mind though, as I feel good being in my kitchen, cooking again.
We are still trying to get things worked out with SGI and the van, house stuff and what not. What a pain!!! Things just shouldn't be so difficult but I know they will work out eventually (I hope, anyways). Skylar was just here for a visit but I only seen him in the hall as I was on the phone. Oh well, I'm sure he will be back.
Ty had his first drive with the instructor yesterday. I guess the car started to slide but he says he got it under control and it didn't freak him out (typical male). Cassi started back to class last night. The class is Theatre and she was told it wasn't acting but more behind the scenes. Well apparently the teacher mentioned something about acting last night and now Cass is FREAKING out. Haha.
I'm not sure what else is in the plans for this weekend. Shawn and I have been invited to a Christmas party but we will have to see if it works out or not. It might be nice to get out for a while but then again, I am quite comfortable at home as well. Well, that's about all I know today. Hope everyone has a good weekend and take care!

Jayci Wittmier, 17 years old. Jayci is an exceptional athlete, student and a great friend to many. She has an amazing spirit and is a joy to be around. On August 10,2009, her 16th birthday, Jayci was a passenger in a terrible car accident. She cracked her C2,3,4 & 6 vertabrae in her neck and broke her C5. Swift Current hospital arranged to have her moved to Saskatoon via air ambulance. She arrived at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, transferred to City Hospital in late Sept. for rehab and was discharged in late February, 2010. She is classified as a C4-5 complete spinal cord injury. Jayci is currently completing her grade 12 year and will accomplish one of her goals of graduating in June, 2011, along with her class. She is also working on another goal, which is to walk again, with her training at Project Walk in Carlsbad, CA and at First Steps in Regina, SK. Jayci's family is asking for you to pray for Jayci's full recovery. BELIEVE!

ReplyDeleteHi! This is Carson Leifson's sister, Carissa. I just wanted to let you all know that I'm believing really hard in Jaycee!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, our grandfather passed away last month and he had a wheelchair accessible mini-van that I'm sure my aunt has no use for now. The estate is still tied up, but I'm sure it will be for sale once things are all finalized. You could probably give our mom a call and she could maybe put the wheels in motion if you are interested in it? I know you won't be needing it forever, but it would come in really handy for the time being!
