We had a pretty good day today. Jayci was on the FES bike again and worked really hard and this afternoon she had Math with Marty. She had a splint made for her left hand also and wearing that she was able to feed herself supper tonight. For now she does need some help getting the food onto the fork, but getting it into her mouth is all her. Her x-ray and blood work have come back normal and she didn't have any AD spells today, so that is all good.
We plan to be on our way home again by early afternoon tomorrow. Since we still haven't heard from SGI regarding a vehicle, we will again be travelling in Shawn's truck. It really is too bad as it sure isn't convenient for Jayci if she wants to go out into the community while at home.
Jayci got an e-mail yesterday from a young man who was also in an accident and is in a wheelchair. He was told he would never walk again but wanted to let Jayci know that he has been to Project Walk and has taken steps with the assistance of the therapists and a walker. He had a video of it which we watched with goose bumps. It brought tears to all of our eyes because we too have talked about Project Walk. It really is exciting to me when I think about Jayci's future and I know that with God and Jayci's amazing spirit, anything is possible. I look so forward to the day that Jayci will be taking her steps too.

Way to go Jayci!!!!!!!Being able to feed yourself is a great step forward....won't have to worry about the folks slopping food on you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSGI are sure making things hard for you guys....just keep on them....think insurance companys do this intentionally so people say to heck with it and quit fighting......
There is no doubt in our minds that Jayci will be taking steps and they won't be baby steps...knowing her she'll be running full tilt and we'll all be cheering her on....

Wow.. look how far jay is coming. she's so amazing and to think of how much she has accomplished in this little time is truly inspirational. although to you guys it may seem like a life time since the accident but with how far she has come along, it really isnt that long ago. keep up the amazing work jay bird! Keep working hard in all your therapies, we all know your a fighter and you'll do what needs to get done plus more! and that video must have been amazing, i can see jayci being the same way taking those steps with what she has in her i kow she can do it. i love you, miss you and hope to see you soon! ReplyDeleteHow exciting that video must have been!! I went to Project Walk site (www.projectwalk.org) and they have many more videos of clients. They are awesome, I watched most of them. Go to the site and then go down to the picture of "Our Clients", then click on any client picture and there is a full video. Some of them are a C5 complete & incomplete. How far they have come in UNBELIVEABLE!!! Check it out!

Hi everyone : So i bet there was some long faces at your house last night was going to call up there but thought better of it, Hope you had a good trip back this morning and the van ran ok . Jayci you looked so good this weekend and could see a big improvement which is nice to see. I was reading your horoscope in theleader on Sat and cut if out to give to you but of course I forgot what else is new. anyways it said you work hardand want to see the fruit of your labor in a big, obvious way. Results will come not as fast as you want them, but fast enough. In the meantime don't give up. Sounds like our Jayci Love you all can't wait for the week end again as i'm sure the rest of the family feels. the same .
