IT'S OFF, IT'S GONE, THE METAL IS NO MORE!!!! YEE HAW, YA HOO, WOO HOO!!!! HALOBRATION TIME!!!!

So last night when Shawn returned from home he had Cass and Ty with him. Jayci was real surprised and wanted to know how long they were staying. Of course we had this planned for awhile and it only felt right that our family was together for what we were hoping was going to be a huge day! And what a glorious day this has been.

We went for our appointment with Dr. Fourney, everyone I think was on pins and needles. He came in, asked Jayci some questions, examined her, then double checked that we had got an exray(which we had). Then he says "I suppose you are ready for that halo to come off?" He brings up the exray, shows us, and says, "Yep, I think it is ready to come off". Praise God!!!! The process actually only took about 10-15 minutes but Jayci did look quite nervous. She said it hurt a little but felt more weird. She does have a collar and for how long really depends on how she feels. Her neck is healed so the collar is for her comfort and until her neck gets stronger. She doesn't have to wear it all the time, like right now, she is sleeping in her bed without the collar on. Her therapists all stopped in to see how it went and were very happy to see her without the halo. Karen even brought her some cheesecake!!! It was Justin's (student OT) last day so we said good bye to him as he is heading back to Edmonton and more schooling. Skylar and Christina stopped in to see the haloless head too and Cassi went out for supper with them. We are having pizza!!

Now we are busy getting things organized and packed up for our trip home tomorrow. There is a lot of stuff to bring and the nurses are helping with that. Karen has helped to make sure everything is arranged and we have what we need at home. Hope we don't forget anything!!! This is just so darn exciting!!!!

Not sure if I will post over the weekend or not. Guess it all depends on how busy our house gets but I will be sure to let you all know how the weekend turns out. Thank you to everyone for everything. All the prayers and support has got us through this far. We would ask that you continue to pray for Jayci and her recovery so that one day soon we can post that we are well and back home for good!!!

God Bless!!
Love Shawn, Starla, Jayci, Cassi and Ty

P.S. SHE'S STILL AN ANGEL!!!!!

Lexie was telling us at her youth group they have a prayer time and she said there is always hands going up "Pray for Jayci!" "Pray for Jayci!" "Pray for Jayci!" This is one prayer that has been answered!

  16. Hello Jayci and family!

Again, congratulations with the halo removal! It was absolutely stellar to see all those smiles around the room on Thursday. I really look forward to checking up on your blog to see how therapy continues. If there is one single aspect I took from working with you, it's that you have extraordinary inner strength, Jayci - between you and your set of amazing therapists, I imagine only more progress to come.

Thank you so much for the chocolates! I was extremely touched by the gift; I know i'm a quiet individual more often than not, but I hope I conveyed how much I appreciated your thoughtfulness in our last meeting.

Best regards to the entire family - I hope you all had an incredible weekend at home!

    Sincerely,

    Justin
