I guess you probably figured out that we had a pretty busy day yesterday since I didn't get around to posting. Jayci got her H1N1 shot, and NO Ty and Hayley, she has not turned into a zombie. She had therapy starting at 11:00, break for lunch, then more therapy until 2:30 and school until 3:30. Auntie Shantel and Skylar stopped in for a short visit before heading off to PA and then our friend Greg was over visiting as well. Once Jace had her shower and we got her ready for bed, it was 9:30 and I was pooped.

Therapy is going well and Jace is still eager to be there. She seems to gain strength everyday. Greg is a patient here who has a spinal cord injury as well and he has been here just over a year. He has been following us to therapy for about the last couple weeks or so. Today, Doctor Mary told me that since getting to know Jayci, Greg has been trying harder during his therapy sessions. Doctor Mary said she thinks it is from watching Jace and seeing how hard she works and how she has improved and she wanted me to let Jayci know that she is an inspiration.

Also, Karin has talked to Jace about getting her own wheelchair which will be motorized as this is what she needs for now. She was told she could pick the color and she picked Hot Pink. Ya right, Jayci and hot pink. Haha. Of course she asked for orange!!! Karin isn't sure if the kind of chair she needs comes in orange so Jayci does have a couple back up colors in mind.

So tomorrow we will again be getting things organized to come home on Friday. Guess we will be using Shawn's truck again as SGI hasn't worked out any kind of transportation for us. The truck works OK, just not as convenient, but at least it does get us home.

Take care!

Love Shawn, Starla & Jayci

  4. Hi Jayci, Starla and Shawn
It's been a while since I've had time to read your postings, but I have been getting the occasional update from my dad and Jacki. I've been sitting here (at work) for the last 15 minutes catching up on all your progress/antics. All I can say is "WOW". This is amazing! And I must agree with Doctor Mary and say that Jayci truly is an inspiration. I just wish that we lived closer so my family and I could come by and visit with you all. But these daily updates will just have to do...it's really great that you take the time to keep everyone updated.
You must feel soooo much lighter now without all that metal on your head, Jayci :)
I know this is old news for everyone else already but I've just got caught up on everything and I have a couple of questions....
    1. What were you going to do if that lady decided to steal something? I would've loved to see you 'chase her down'.
    2. When your finger ended up in your mouth - is that where you were aiming? or did you miss your nose? (just kidding)
Anyways, glad to see all the progress and I'm really happy to hear that you get to spend your weekends at home. It sounds like everyone in Swift misses you.
    Take care. Big hugs.
