2 DAYS TIL HALOBRATION!!!!(MAYBE????)

So today didn't go exactly as planned. The doctors came in this morning and said the respitory therapist who was working today doesn't feel comfortable removing the trach while the halo is still on and he suggested they wait to pull the trach until after the halo comes off. WHAT! The respitory therapist last week wanted to pull it on Thursday. The one doctor agreed but wanted to wait until Monday but today the head doctor wants to go on the advice of the respitory therapist working today. They don't predict any problems but if there was, things would be more difficult with the halo on. Blah blah blah. After all of that, I think the doctor made Jayci more nervous about it and so Jayci has decided to wait until after the halo comes off. Talk about too many cooks in the kitchen!!!!! Jayci's occupational therapist phoned over to the neurosurgeon's office today and was told that Jayci's appointment on Thursday is booked for the halo coming off. If this happens, then the doc says they will remove the trach next Monday. I will not be holding my breath though!!!!

Jayci had a surprise visit from her great friends Jane, Jill and Cindy. Just when she thought she was bored, they walked through the door. Of course they brought her more gifts and Cindy brought a huge tray of baking. Jayci was so happy to see them(as were we), we can't wait to come home.

That about sums up our day. Guess we will see what tomorrow brings. Take care!

Love Shawn, Starla & Jayci

  1. Boy! Won't it be nice to take that HEAVY halo off ehh Jay!! I was so pumped to bedazzle it though, but hey it;ll look great bedazzled when you can see it, completely off! Sounds like that halloween party was far out. We played like shit on Friday against Notre Dame so on our free weekend guess what ELEVEN O CLOCK CURFEW. Yuckk ehh haha.
So there's this boy at my school whose brother just got a electric wheel chair thing to, so I make sure that in your blog if it comes up about the chair he gets filled in. Hahah, at school the other day he had a little bit to much fun and ran full tilt over the teachers toe. Haha, he told me to say that you must be a natural with that because he had no idea how to control himself. Atta girl Jaybro =) .

  3. Sorry to hear about the delay in getting the trach out. It must be disappointing, but hopefully they will be able to take it out on Monday. Hang in there - You are doing an amazing job! I am looking forward to reading about the halo coming off on Thursday!

  4. Keep your spirits up. This is just a small delay in Jayci's journey. The trach will come out when its time and not before. The Drs. and therapists have to be trusted in their decisions. They know what they are doing and when to do it. Sure its a disappointment, but it will get done.
We were disappointed too. I stood outside for three hours listening for the yell of joy from S'toon but was disappointed when I didn't hear it. lol lol
    Smile. That's better.
    Love all of you lots,

  5. Sorry to hear about the delays today but Thurs will be a big day and Monday will be even better! Each day and each step you take will bring you closer to your goal! Bortis, the kitty cat is glad to be home and enjoys the warm milk I give him each day. I don't know what he will do when Alyssa is gone as they are moving their trailer to Swift on Monday, boo hoo.

Stay strong everyone and we are sending our love and prayers your way!
