6 DAYS TIL HALOBRATION!!!
Great news today. The trach is scheduled to be removed on Monday!!! WOO HOO! It could come out now but with the weekend coming up the doc thought we should wait until Monday. I guess we can handle that, as originally we were told it would be in for at least 6 months. Wow, how far Jace has come.
We had therapy this morning, then a headache, then therapy again this afternoon. Not sure what is causing these migranes but hopefully we will figure that out soon. She had 3 last week which also made Jace sick to her stomach but today she managed to go to sleep and felt a little better after. Skylar stopped in for a visit then he was off for supper with some buddies. I thought I should go along to chaperone but he passed.?????
After the nap this afternoon, I was getting Jace ready for her OT session when over the intercom it was announced "Code Black, Shipping and Receiving". We have heard a code red, and quite a few code blues but not a code black so we weren't too sure what that was. Shawn had just come in from outside and he said the cops were out there saying not to move or touch it. Then we heard the nurses in the hall talking about an evacuation. We quickly got Jace in her chair with her blanket just incase we had to go outside. About 2o minutes to half an hour later it was announced "Code black cleared". We found out a code black is a bomb threat. Not sure what it was about but Jayci's student OT thought we were pretty safe being on the 7th floor and the threat was on the main floor. I guess that would depend on how big the bomb was. Haha.
We are looking forward to tomorrow and Cass, Ty and Andy coming. Ty is planning a Halloween party so not sure what is in store for us. Can hardly wait to see what kind of costume Jayci ends up with but it should be fun. I will let you know how it turns out. Good night!

when u brad was about 4 he heard about this "bum" scare in Pontiex which had been on the radio, we asked him what a bum scare was and he said" thats when a man pulled down his pants and gave everybody a bum scare"
ReplyDeletejust another chapter in your book Starla
Hey Guys,
ReplyDeleteThat'll be great to be rid of some hardware. Once that halo comes off progress in therapy is much faster.
Say, Jayci's headaches aren't autonomic dysreflexia, are they? Mine manifested itself mostly a profuse sweating when I would wear a strap around my legs to keep them together because they didn't have a wide enough chair for me. Squeezing my legs together allowed me to fit my butt into a narrower chair except the strap caused pressure issues and pain. We tried going outside to cool off since that should stop the sweating, but the only solution seemed to be getting into bed.
It wasn't until my dad researched it on the net that we found the cause and solution. I remember him calling me on my cell and his first words were, "Take off that leg strap!" Instantly my sweating stopped. What disappointed me most was that the numerous doctors, nurses and therapists, specializing in these kinds of injuries, weren't able to help me out.
It was the same with coughing and why I needed to share the technique with Jayci when we first met. Like Pete said on Monday, we have to share information, tips and tricks with each other because we live it and know the answers to questions not posed in the textbooks of the rehab staff.
Hope you guys have a great weekend!
Just wondering if your friends Gary & John were responsible for the bomb threat hoping to escape???
ReplyDeleteMorning Jacyi, Starla & of course - "Stinkerbell",
ReplyDeleteIt is so amazing to read of your progress and getting the trach out will be one more advancement for you. I remember not that long ago when Taneil and I made our very first visit to you and you got to have your very first ice chips - my how things have come a long way. Taneil was so excited to get your text again the other night. Everytime she hears from you - she gets a little tear in her eye. She is so proud of you - as we all are.
I can't wait to hear about the halloween costume your brother has in store for you. Make sure your mom takes lots of pictures! Not sure if I will dress Topaz up for halloween yet or not. She would absolutely love to get dressed up and go to a few houses, but she will also be excited everytime the doorbell rings and she sees kids all dressed up.
Well - remember to behave yourself Jayci and by the sounds of the menu that your Grandma is preparing - you should eat well this weekend!
Love to all - Glenis
Hi Jay, Shawn and Starla
ReplyDeleteWe will be up tomorrow for a visit. Many of the Wilcats are sick with a wicked cough, and the flu, so our games in PA are cancelled. So we will come up anyway to see you all and of course to see Sky, if he is not to busy with his social life. He already called to say not to spend the night.... Star maybe you could chaperone! Anyway, take care and we will see you tomorrow, anything we can bring up for the spooooky party?
