16 DAYS TIL HALOBRATION! (Shawn's word)

We had a pretty busy day here today. We had OT for an hour this morning which went really well and then an hour of PT this afternoon too. We sure can see the strength in those arms getting stronger and Jace felt she did real good today. You can see the determination in those beautiful blue eyes and you know she is working really hard when her tongue pops out through her lips! Of course there was also more tinkering with the chair and yes, they torked it up again. They seem to be quite impressed with her driving! We also met with the Psychologist (standard policy they say) and I guess it went alright as no one got medicated.

We went outside for a bit after therapy. The sun was shining but the air was a little cool, so we weren't out too terribly long but it felt good. Once Jayci was back in bed, we capped her trach and she is still capped at this moment (it has been 2.5 hours already). She even fell asleep so that just shows us she is getting a lot more comfortable with having it capped. We will increase her time each day, as much as she can handle, and hopefully the trach will be gone before the halo. She has had an upset stomach off and on today but she did eat so hopefully that is getting better.

Just to give you an idea of how Jayci does in the new chair: To make the chair stop, she just takes her hand off the control. So, after our walk outside and our snack at the cafeteria, we were heading back upstairs. Mom gets in the elevator and holds the door and dad is behind Jace. She comes tearing in the elevator so fast I thought she was going to fly through the other side. But as soon as she gets through the door, her hand comes off the control and she stops dead. Scared the bejesus out of me but she had it all under control.

Take care!

Love Shawn, Starla & Jayci

  9. Thats amazing to hear the chair got some extra speed. You don't have one sitting around i could have now do you? Also glad to hear your feeling stronger. The trach thing seemes to be getting better and better too so thats good. Keep on going, your getting really far in such short period of time. It's been a couple of months and your doing better so that shows you the strength God has for us, and the strength we have to keep on fighting

  10. Hey Jayci and Aunty and Uncle,

Great to here they sped your chair up, haha, thats was pretty slow before. But, I am sure it's good now. Hopefully, you can get outside a few more times before it gets to cold out, the mornings are freezing outside here, eh? I will try and get up sometime this week, but I can't guarantee anything as I have to study for a math test, and you know how my first two went. Thanks again for the flashlight, have used it lots trying to find my way into the house. I will see you on the weekend for sure.

    Love always your cuz, Skylar
