15 DAYS TIL HALOBRATION!!!!

So good news from the doc today. She does think the Neurosurgeon WILL be removing the halo at our appointment Nov 5th, so we are pretty excited about that. We will continue to pray for it!!! Therapy went well again however Jace did think she was going to faint on the mat. But she told the therapists in time, and once they layed her down, she was OK. She still continued to work hard though and her therapists said they usually can tell when a patient is getting tired because they quit smiling but when things get tough for Jace, her smile actually gets bigger. Such a trooper!!!! This afternoon they wrapped her hands in melted wax to loosen her nuckles. It was kind of neat to see and it made her hands soft too. Almost like a manicure!

She wasn't feeling too good later this afternoon and did throw up a little but she had a nap, and feels a little better tonight. Oh and the capping, well she went 2 hours this afternoon(while sick) and then another 2 hours tonight. It is actually too bad they need to go through the capping because we are pretty sure she doesn't need the trach anymore. Oh well, it won't be long and she will be able to get it out.

As for the wheelchair, oh she does seem to get a little too much pleasure in trying to run into mom!?!?!? Not sure what that is about but dad was actually the one to get his foot run over(ha ha). A funny thing happened when we were putting her back in her bed though. We already had her in the lift and had just lifted her from the chair when her leg caught on the chair's controller. And of course, we had forgotten to turn the chair off (again) and so the chair starts turning, which made the lift start turning. Jace was hanging in the lift, and we were both trying to get over to the controller, but there isn't much room to begin with, and we were banging into the walls but we did manage to get the chair shut off. Well, we all sure had a good laugh after that one. Oh brother, we are good!!!!

Better run now, think I need to heat the wheat bag, AGAIN!! Thanks for reading and please continue to pray!!!

Love Shawn, Starla & Jayci

  1. Hey Jayci, Starla and Shawn,
Miss you all so much. Thinking about you and praying everyday. So glad to hear the progress you are making Jayci. When the rest of us are whining about a tough day we've had, we need to think about your determination and courage and suck it up! I can ony imagine the impact you are having on those around you! Love reading the blog every night. It would be truely amazing to see how many log on thru out the day. Starla, you have missed your calling, but it's never too late! With characters like Jayci and Shawn how can it not be a best seller??? Hope to see you soon!

  2. Good morning Shawn, Lil Sis & Jayci!
I can hardly wait to get up there to see you guys and check out all the progress you are making as a team. Never a dull (or quiet) moment here at my house. Cassi was getting up at 4am to study - not sure if that happened. Hayley & Ty are busy trying to fit there workouts in to their busy schedules. Lexie well she heard a new joke where you say a phrase fast and it sounds like something else - totally soap material but she thinks it's so funny and (egged on by Ty) she texts it to Gramma on my phone. Didn't go over very well as she is now grounded.
Missing you all and praying for you. God is bigger than a spinal cord injury!
